In this exclusive interview Amrita Narlikar, the president of the German Institute for Global and Area Studies and Professor at the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences at the University of Hamburg, Germany talks to international trade lawyer Urvi Tembey about the paradoxical use of 'powerlessness to attain power' especially in contemporary trade negotiations. Narlikar is the author of a recent well-regarded book called Poverty Narratives and Power Paradoxes in International Trade Negotiations and Beyond (Cambridge University Press).
